Is it true that youth and skills come along together? Then why is the younger section three times more likely to be unemployed than the adults? Also, women are more likely to be underemployed or underpaid. These result in taking up part-time jobs or working under contracts. Back in 2014, to mark the acquisition and development of skills amongst the youth of the entire world, the United Nations, at its General Assembly declared 15th July as the World Youth Skill Day. Young people constantly need to acquire, learn and adopt new requirements and challenges.
Youth plays a crucial role in nation-building. It has the power to develop the nation and move towards progress. It is also responsible to bring social reform within the country. The youth of the country determines the future of the nation. History itself is the prove that the nations which have recognized the power of youth and paved a path for them have only touched heights and known greatness. Thus, it becomes very crucial for India use the power of its booming and innovative youth. To attain the glory, it deserves.
Knowing the importance of the youth awards us with the responsibility of training them and providing them with the best of the resources. In addition, they must be given all the opportunities, and encourage them to give their best.
India is blessed with over 35% of its population being in the age of 18–30. Above all, the number speaks for itself that if these young ones are given the correct resources and encouragement, they can bring laurels for the nation as they have been doing it for a long time.
One must not forget the words of Nelson Mandela – “Youth of today are the leaders of tomorrow”.
